SoundDoc Entertainment is bringing you another Soul Sounds event. Come join us for singer Rhonda Thomas as she brings you talent beyond your imagination.

Rohnda Thomas

http://www.myspace.com/rhondathomas

With an unforgettable voice that is enticing and riveting, Rhonda has stamped her name on the hearts of all that have witnessed her singing live. From bringing the roof down in Atlanta's Tabernacle when she sang with Incognito's powerhouse lead-singer Maysa Leak, to winning multiple awards in Harlem's Apollo Theater, to New York's famous New Cotton Club and even at the 1996 Olympic Games crowds have fallen under the powerful spell of Rhonda's bold vocal styling.

She hails from the Atlanta underground soul scene having performed with renowned artists India.Arie, Donnie (Motown), and is a member of Jiva (Giant Step Records), She wears her influences like an elegant gown draped with the improvisational skill and vocal acrobatics of Sarah Vaughn and Al Jareau, and the sultry depth and emotional effectiveness of Phyllis Hyman and Chaka Khan. Her natural talent, professional drive, and amazing charisma have landed her in the presence of greatness many times. Rhonda's voice has opened many doors for her: she is a background vocalist for Isaac Hayes, and has performed with Luther Vandross, Roy Ayers, Sam Moore of the legendary duo Sam and Dave and Incognito.

Rhondas EP Rhonda Thomas remained number one on the charts of the Internet radio station, Soul 24-7 consecutively for 6 weeks in the fall of 1999. Rhonda's vocal talents have been highlighted in various publications such as JazzTimes Magazine (August 2003). Her most recent album, Breathe New Life, was rated in the top 3 of Listmanias (AMAZON.COM) 25 Best Nu Soul OnThe Net. Rhonda's talents were experienced across the globe during her recent 2007 UK "Breathe New Life Tour" to glowing reviews.A quote from Isaac Hayes review of Breathe New Life reads: "WOW, a human voice singing songs of substance. Hats off to production, musicianship, arrangement, vocals and don't miss the lyrics, its a breath of fresh air."Music isn't just an innate talent of Rhonda. A serious musician, she formally studied music at Hampton University, as well as the New York State Summer School of Arts with personal instruction from members of the New York Metropolitan Opera Company.

The voice of Rhonda Thomas will make a believer of anyone with ears to listen. Her boundless energy on stage enchants crowds as her voice exudes power and passion executed with precision. Allow yourself to fall under the spell of her voice and witness the immeasurable gifts of Rhonda Thomas.

Abby Dobson

http://www.abby-dobson.com

http://www.myspace.com/abbydobsonmusic

Some singers need to be surrounded by a variety of equipment to move people, but this powerful artist simply needs an audience. She is one of those rare songbirds that effortlessly stimulate sensual, soulful and raw emotions using just her vocal instrument, a voice that you don’t just hear…you feel it.

Having been influenced by the likes of legendary soul and jazz powerhouses such as Sarah Vaughn, Anita Baker, Donny Hathaway, Bill Withers, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin, Abby is not your typical artist who tries to woo a crowd with technical acrobatics or lyrical clichés, but instead captures a crowd using captivating melodies and emotionally charged words brought to life by the ache and honey in her voice. Devoted to her craft, Abby has studied classical voice since Junior High school. But it was the introduction to Billie Holiday and Hathaway that taught Abby how to draw people inside her in such a way that you feel her essence. Abby’s music is heart music. “I want to touch people. I wanna make you feel.”

Abby has performed throughout New York City performing to rave reviews at well-known venues like S.O.B’s, The Knitting Factory, The Cutting Room, Joe’s Pub, and the legendary Blue Note. This performer has three times been a featured singer/songwriter at the New York Songwriter’s Circle, performed on BET’s 106 & Park, was a finalist in the R&B category of the John Lennon Song Writing Competition for her song “Deeply”, which has also been featured on television (“The Shield”, “Jack & Jill” and “Any Day Now”), performed in 98.7 KissFM sponsored shows at the South Street Seaport, and was hailed by 98.7 KissFM as a “rising superstar”.

Abby Dobson has also sung backgrounds for several recording artists, including Talib Kweli, John Legend, Consequence and Urban Mystic. Abby is constantly busy sharing her timeless voice and giving back to society, which is why she volunteered to direct a gospel choir, became an advocate for youth and community organizations using her enormous talent as a tool of hope, performed in neighborhood choruses, churches and a host of other social engagements including lending her heartfelt lyrics and melodies to various fundraising events for the Bronx Community College Upward Bound program, Music of Choice for Youth Benefit Performance, Better Youth.org, Lifebeat’s Heart and Voices, The Brotherhood SisterSol, The Lower Eastside Girl’s Club and the Ronald McDonald House for children living with Cancer.

Abby is no assembly line artist. No gimmicks. No studio manufactured antics. She is to soulful music an innovative and compelling force, a tender voice bringing people together…bringing you joy… through the gift of song

Jimmy Salvemini

http://www.jimmysalvemini.com

http://www.myspace.com/jimmysalvemini

A big part of his story is currently featured in the first biography ever written about Luther Vandross, Luther: The Life and Longingn of Luther Vandross. Luther took Jimmy under his wing and nurtured his talent after seeing him perform on the hit talent show Star Search when Jimmy was just 14 years old. Luther decided to set aside all projects and write and produce his new protege's debut R and B album. Luther called in favors from old friends to appear on the album, such as Irene Cara, Pheobe Snow, Brenda Russell, Cheryl Lynn, and Pee Wee Herman, just to name a few.

On January 12,1986, the day after completing the last song for the debut album, while on the way to the studio to celebrate what seemed to be the pinnacle of Jimmy's teenage career, the Mercedes driven by Luther swerved out of control and collided with two oncoming cars. In the accident Jimmy's brother and manager Larry died, Luther and Jimmy suffered external wounds and internal injuries. Elektra records decided that in light of the tragedy, it would be nearly impossible to launch the project out of such horrific circumstances.

Jimmy became reclusive when returning home to Long Island morning his brother and healing his broken body. When he listened to the voice within, he discovered an innate ability he never knew existed... writing songs and creating music. His newly discovered talents became his channel of self-expression. Occasionally singing locally, it was when Luther had his stroke that memories resurfaced and Jimmy set out to accomplish the goals from his youth.

As always Drea will be there to hold Jimmy down on keys!

Friday March 20th SoundDoc is excited about Jimmy Salvemini's upcoming venture to South Africa. The Journey is hosting a concert with Jimmy Salvemini and Melvin Robinson Jr. & guest. Drea is also lending her talents to the concert, playing keys. The concert is to support the missions journey to South Africa in April. Pleae come out and support SoundDoc Entertainment artists, the mission, and The Journey at this once in a lifetime gospel concert.

Caroline, or Change

Set in 1963 Louisiana, this musical centers on the Gellman family and their African-American maid, a single mother of four named Caroline. Caroline spends most of her life in the basement laundry room with the Washing Machine (a sultry Caribbean blues singer), the Dryer (a fiery R&B singer), and the Radio (a Supremes-like trio). She now has a choice to make: her uncompromisingly proud self, or her family's welfare...Caroline, or change.

December 2008 Update - December 1, 2008

As 2008 comes to an end we would like to reflect back on the milestones that SoundDoc entertainment has had throughout the year, in February Drea released her debut album Love Affair, and Collette's CD dropped in June of this year, and took the soul/R&B scene by storm. Paul Rivers Bailey had the anniversary of his project Inner Child, in November. SoundDoc Entertainment artist's music is currently streaming on radio stations here in the U.S. and also in United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia, Amsterdam, Germany and Brazil.

Luther decided to set aside all projects and write and produce his new protege..s debut R and B album.

In the accident Jimmy's brother and manager Larry died, Luther and Jimmy suffered external wounds and internal injuries.Electra records decided that in light of the tragedy, it would be nearly impossible to launch the project out of such horrific circumstances.

October Here We Come!

Friday October 24th SoundDoc Entertainment presents it's monthly music series Soul Sounds, a Soul/R&B independent artist showcase in our own backyard. This event will take place at Tula Kitchen http://www.tulakitchen.com, SoundDoc's favorite L.I. spot. This month Soul Sounds series features artists Paul Rivers Bailey, Collette, and Drea will be there to hold them down on keys as well as give you a few selections. I know L.I. is going to help get the movement flowing. We will see you there Friday October 24th at 41 East Main St. in Bay Shore, NY. The show starts at 9:30 and there isn't a cover so make sure you support both artists and purchase their CDs.

Not only are these 2 phenomenal artists, but they are recent additions to the SoundDoc Entertainment family, please come out and help me give them a proper welcome ... Show them some love!

Collette is an R&B singing sensation whose silky voice breezes over hard hitting beats… sometimes in a gentle wind and other times a hurricane of South Carolina song. Her debut album blends Southern hip hop & soul. The 25 year old vocalist lists among her influences Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Withers, Amel Larrieux, Jill Scott, and Mary J. Blige - a list that varies with her own musical experiences.

Collette began as a pianist and saxophonist in her early childhood and wandered into singing as a teen. After spending 4 years in college at Howard University, singing and soaking up the raw energy of Washington D.C.’s Go-go music scene, Collette was finally ready to unveil her unique brand of storytelling. Visit her at http://www.experiencecollette.com.

Paul Rivers Bailey is a musician and filmmaker from Queens New York, now residing in New Mexico. As a young child, Paul grew up in a musical family, as his father produced and wrote songs for artists such as Kool & the Gang and A Train. Paul started singing at the age of four, wrote his first song at age seven, and hasn't stopped since. He believes part of his role as an artist is to inspire the youth of today by sharing music and multimedia projects through out the community.

This commitment to spreading love, peace, and positively though song continues to open doors, and has led to performance opportunities throughout the U.S. as well as internationally, most recently being invited as a special guest of Al Green opening for him at the Santa Fe Opera House. As success continues to grow, it is important to Paul to be a healthy member of the human family by being of service through song and community activism. It is his sincere belief that song can heal and unify us all, and his hope that his voice in some way can contribute to this objective. Visit him at http://www.paulriversbailey.com.
